Start networking now!!! (if you have not already done so)

If you have not gotten any sort of networking established for yourself, you are way behind the power curve!

What I mean by this is that the benefits of having an established network that deals with your subject of interest can be extremely beneficial and if you are not taking advantage of them, you are more than likely selling yourself short.  Being part of a network puts you in touch with like minded individuals.  By maintaining regular contact with them, you have access to a large pool of knowledge that is related to your area of interest.

Now there are different kinds of networking.  You can network on a social basis or on a business basis.  An example of social networking is found in service organizations such as Kiwanis or Rotary where individuals from a wide variety of professions join together in causes the benefit the common good.  By joining such an organization, this provides individuals an opportunity to make it known that they have an area of expertise to a larger group of people.  You may have been asked the question “Who do you know?” or “Can you recommend a good _____?”  Business networking is where a group of individuals who share a common interest or profession such as entrepeneurialism or Certified Public Accountants establish contact with one another.  A common example of this is can be found in professional associations or online forums.

One such networking group that I have become a part of is a group of entrepeneurs who share information on a variety of topics such as marketing strategies, blogging, and many others.  The website for the group is  For me, being a part of this group has been a proverbial goldmine!  I am able to review the material that other members have contributed in their postings that apply to topics that I need to learn more about.  Also, it gives me a chance to provide information on things that may be of value to others.  Also, I can ask questions to obtain information I need regarding any network related topic as well as provide inputs to any questions other network members may have on topics that I consider myself to be sufficiently knowledgeable.  In addition to being able to obtain various opinions, I can also draw upon the experience others have gained in areas that are of interest to me.  One other immense benefit that is available from this networking resource is the ability to have other like minded individuals look over any materials that I have and to receive constructive feedback on how to make any necessary improvements in anything that I am working on such as advertising, website traffic generation, etc.

So hopefully the advantages and benefits that are to be gained from effective networking are obvious.  Call it masterminding if you will.  Or remember the phrase “two heads are better than one.”  Having access to the knowledge that is available from a large group of individuals who share your interests or what it is you have to offer will only yield large dividends and help to move you forward in the direction of your pursuits.  But do keep in mind that you should always be willing to contribute what you have to offer so that it may benefit others.  You will definitely stand out if all you do is take from people and have nothing to provide in return.  Being willing and having something to share with others will make those around you more inclined to share what they have with you in return.

So if you have not done so already, get out there and start networking!
